Rochester College Garth Pleasant Arena

Rochester College Garth Pleasant Arena

Rochester, MI

Named after Rochester College’s basketball coach of 38 years, the Garth Pleasant Arena
has took almost ten years to come to fruition. The long-awaited project started back in
2005 when fundraising began, but plans were halted 2007 when the recession hit. It was
nearly five year before things started back up again, but by winter of 2017, the facility
was finally completed. The opening of the arena marked the first time a home game
was ever been played at the college, and so students, alumni, and fans alike were all so
excited to attend that tickets for the first game sold out in just twelve hours.

The 23,000 square foot arena features a regulation performance court for NAIA
competition, as well as locker rooms, and mezzanine. It seats approximately 900 fans
during a game and can hold about 1,500 people when it’s at capacity. In addition to
basketball and volleyball, Rochester College utilizes the space for a variety of other
campus activities, and also rents it out to the community.
